Play and Press Repeat

Everyone has one day that they wish they could repeat over and over again. Whether it be a day alone or a day with friends, it's a day that imprints itself in your memory. My day was back in July, featuring my best friend, my mom, and I in Gettysburg, PA.

The sun was beating down and was creating an inescapable whopping 97º heat with the clearest blue sky overhead. We started with an in depth Segway tour around the town. Of course, the precursor to that was Segway training - which was hilarious. The Segway is one of the weirdest feelings in the world, for someone with no balance to trust a beefed up Razor scooter is a very difficult task. It was amazing though. We weaved through cobblestone streets and sped down hills, laughing was the only conversation heard between the three of us.

Next up was a horse drawn carriage ride around the battlefield. The sky was starting to darken by this point in the afternoon but it had no effect on the ride. We heard stories of the battle and of tales told for hundreds of years. All the way out in the fields it felt like time had stood still. Fences became wooden and run down. Houses became colonial and farther spaced. Hills of wheat and grass rolled for as many miles as the eyes could see.

The minute the carriage pulled into the docking, it was time for period dining. We dined at an actual house from the time that had been turned into a fine dining restaurant. Our table was a bed frame and was lit only by candle light, the glow illuminated everything in a soft warm hue. The food was indescribable -filet minion, salad, soup, baked sweet potato, and a beautiful lava cake. Though the bill was pricey, the experience was amazing.

The late night was spent with only my friend and I - ghost hunting. From nine to midnight, we went ghost hunting with actual professionals. We were given professional equipment and were given free reign at an old battlefield hospital and a murder house. Six months later, we were snail mailed a DVD of our adventures - spoiler alert, nothing world breaking was found.

Getting back to the hotel at 1 am (hangry because apparently, their 7-11 closed at 12:30 and snacks were no longer available) we tucked in and passed out. If I had the choice, I would relieve that day over and over. Though, I was exhausted at the end, so maybe not every day.
