3 Cookies I'd Die For (Literally. I have a gluten allergy)

    Cookies are sacred.

We bake them, we review them, we devour them. They are the easiest thing to make for our kids last minute bake sale and the holy grail when teachers bring food to class. We spend hours digging through some mommy blogger's life story to get to the recipe.

However, the best cookies are always a toss up. Very seldom are there ever universal favorite cookies. A person's favorite cookie is the most intimate hill that they will die on.

I am no different. These are my favorite cookies. I will not be taking criticism. Fight me.

3. The Chocolate chip

The chocolate chip cookie is a classic. It's sweet and ooey and gooey and hits the spot every time. The chocy chip is many's favorite. However, the downfall for the chip is in the execution. Very rarely is there a singularly good chocolate chip cookie. It could be too thin, not enough chips, too crunchy, too gooey. The perfect balance is almost entirely impossible to achieve.

2. The Black and White

The black and white cookie is near perfection. A sweet, light, cake like base topped with chocolate ganache and royal icing. The best of both worlds, truly. Yet, where this cookie fails to hit the marks is yet again, in the ratio. While no amount of chocolate ganache can be too much, the vanilla icing, if made too thick, becomes inedible. If the icing is too thick you might as well only be eating one half and that's depressing.

1. The Oatmeal Raisin

Now. Many of you are completely dissing my list now, but I digress. Oatmeal Raisin cookies are the best and I will die on this hill. You can't go wrong with an oatmeal raisin cookie. It's tender and chewy and just sweet enough. You don't have to need the same impossible balance of a chocolate chip and the only ratio to worry about is raisin quantity. I will take an oatmeal raisin cookie over a chocolate chip any day of the week. A batch will be gone in two days. They are superior.

Comments

  1. When I was a kid, I remember my aunt making the BEST oatmeal raisin cookies, but I must admit, I would pick all of the raisins out. Either way, oatmeal raisin cookies are great don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

  4. Those black and white cookies are really good. I always eat the white part first though because the chocolate is superior.
